Downtown Abbey and The Twilight Saga collides in Charles Ludlam's side-splitting comedy that explodes onto the stage in July.
Jonathan Roxmouth and Weslee Swain Lauder star in this spoof where all the residents of the Mandacrest estate travel from the moors of England to the tombs of Egypt and back again, encountering along their way a host of vampires, werewolves, mummies and all manner of things that go bump in the night. With Gothic plot turns thrown out like thumbtacks on the road and a stage packed full of outrageous sets and costumes, Irma Vep is a visual feast that will have you in stitches right up until the final twist!
In a remote manor called Mandacrest, something is amiss. Between the horrors of a marauding beast terrorizing the estate and the looming presence of the recently deceased former mistress Irma Vep, Lord Edgar and his new wife, Lady Enid, are having a rough time. Add to that the fact that the maid, Jane, is utterly devoted to the memory of her former mistress and Nicodemus, the groundsman, has a little problem that won't quite go away, and matters become awkward in the extreme.
Even more bizarre than the cast of characters is the fact that all of these lunatics, beasts, ghouls and gentlefolk are played by only two lightning-witted actors. In fact, the play is often referred to as a quick change act!
The Mystery of Irma Vep, which harks back to more romantic days (before Scary Movie 1 through 28), is a delightfully comedic take on the good, old fashioned Penny Dreadful genre of days gone by.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! KANNA Award winner for Best Male Artist at the 2010 ABSA KKNK, James Grace is one of one South Africa’s leading concert artists. In recent years he has appeared with the Cape Philharmonic, the Kwa-Zulu Natal Philharmonic, the Johannesburg Festival, the Johannesburg Philharmonic and the Free State Symphony in concerti by Rodrigo, Villa - Lobos, Giuliani and Vivaldi. He was the soloist in Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra and Pieter Daniel at Kirstenbosch’s Summer Concert Series, and recently joined forces with Jonathan Crossley to give the South African premiere of Rodrigo's Concierto Madrigal for two guitars with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra and Alessandro Crudele. James studied at the Royal College of Music in London as a Foundation Scholar with Carlos Bonell. Upon graduating he became the first guitarist in the history of the College to receive the Tagore Gold Medal, an annual award presented to the most outstanding student. After spending two years in Doha, in the Arabian State of Qatar where he taught guitar at an International Music Centre, James returned to South Africa and was appointed Head of Classical Guitar Studies at the University of Cape Town. James has recently released his fifth solo album, World Café, under his own record label, Stringwise Records. His previous two releases Sevilla - Music of Spain II and Café Latino both topped the Classic Fm Top 20 South African Charts and earned James SAMA nominations for Best Popular Classical Album and Best Instrumental Album respectively.

Ticket Collection
Tickets booked on-line or through the Computicket Call Centre must be collected from a Computicket, Shoprite, Checkers or Checkers Hyper store, at least 3 hours before the show.  After that time, they will only be available at the venue box office which opens at least 1 hour before the show starts. Credit card used to make the booking must be presented when collecting tickets.
Refunds And Cancellations
Allowed, however cancellation fees will be deducted as determined by the Event Organiser. Please see Terms & Conditions on http://www.computicket.com
Following receipt of your booking cancellation or returned tickets, we will refund you the face value paid for the relevant tickets (or, if a discounted ticket, then instead the discounted ticket price paid), provided that reasonable cancellation charges as determined by the Event Organiser may be charged and deducted from such refund. Unless otherwise stipulated by the Event Organiser and depending on the prevailing circumstances the following cancellation charges may apply:
1) If the cancellation occurs more than 30 days prior to the event a 15% cancellation fee will apply;
2) If the cancellation occurs less than 30 but more than 7 days prior to the event a 50% cancellation fee will apply;
3) If the cancellation occurs less than 7 days prior to the event a 100% cancellation fee will apply;
- Notwithstanding the aforesaid, if you can provide us with suitable documentary proof that a person in whose name a ticket was booked will not be able to attend the event because of his/her death and/or hospitalisation, no cancellation fee will apply in respect of the cancellation of such person`s ticket
